What's the difference between nic salt and freebase e-liquid? Nic salt e-liquid uses a chemically stabilized nicotine that's smoother on the throat and absorbed faster, making it better suited to low-wattage pod devices and higher nicotine strengths (25–50mg). Freebase e-liquid uses traditional nicotine, gives a stronger throat hit at high strengths, and is typically used in higher-wattage mod devices at lower nicotine strengths (3–12mg).

Beginners switching from cigarettes usually start with nic salt e-liquid at 25mg or 35mg in a pod device, since it mimics cigarette nicotine delivery without harshness.
